Module 9 - Clinician wellbeing

Unit 5 summarizes the current approach to contemporary decision-making in hearing and communication treatment approaches and outlines the risks our communication has on our teams, ourselves and, of course, our clients. The urgent need to include clinical debriefing activities of client encounters is highlighted, and research on the projected impact on team morale is summarized.

A framework of debriefing is proposed, using real life clinical examples. Debriefing is compared and contrasted to current supervision and reflection practices and the benefits of a formal, evidence-based debriefing practice highlighted.
