Module 4 - Extending Person-Centered Care to Families and Children

In this module, we extend the principles of person-centered care to families and children. The first section considers the challenges faced by families throughout their child’s hearing care journey. These perspectives are illustrated through videos to assist in reflective practice. The second section introduces a developmental framework and the My World tool as ways to help clinicians directly engage children and support them in their journey. We also explore the importance of self-esteem on children’s outcomes.

The final two sections focus on the needs and challenges faced by teens and tweens. Living Well for Teens is introduced as a way to explore the teen journey and the importance of self-esteem, self-efficacy, and self-determination.
