Inspiration

Theater plays can give rise to global movements to raise awareness of important issues. The Vagina Monologues is an episodic play written by Eve Ensler that celebrates the female body and aims to raise awareness of violence against women. The play is the cornerstone of the V-Day movement, which aims to create a world where women live safely and freely. In 2012, over 5,800 V-Day events took place by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world. The events included local productions of The Vagina Monologues, educating millions of people about violence against women and girls.
