Ida Down Under: Five Workshops in Australia

By Timothy Cooke

We are revisiting the land down under this spring for five interactive workshops on the Living Well and My World tools. This will mark a great opportunity for the Ida Institute to introduce our two new tools to the Australian hearing care community.

Ida audiologist Karen Parfitt will present the Living Well and My World tools throughout locations in Western and South Australia. Four of the workshops will be dedicated to hearing care professionals at Australian Hearing. Australian Hearing is the official government provider of hearing services in Australia and one of the largest providers in the world. Through its research unit, the National Acoustic Laboratories, Australian Hearing has made significant contributions to understanding and treating hearing loss.

The four interactive workshops at Australian Hearing represent a great opportunity to learn more about audiological practice in Australia and add new members to the growing Ida community. The workshops will occur on the following dates:

27 March - Perth Hearing Center, Western Australia

28 March - Morley Recreation Center, Western Australia

3 April - Marion Hearing Center, South Australia

4 April - Woodville Hearing Center, South Australia

The fifth workshop will focus on the My World Pediatric tool and will occur at the Telethon Speech and Hearing Center, Western Australia on 24 February. A nonprofit organization established in 1967, Telethon Speech and Hearing teaches children with speech and language or hearing impairments to listen and speak. They embrace a family-centered approach, which ensures that parents or caregivers develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to work with their children to develop spoken language.

We hope that this interactive workshop on the My World counselling tool will help support the Center’s family-focused approach and their work with children.

For more information on any of the Australian workshops, please feel free to contact Ida audiologist Karen Parfitt.
