Making that happen requires input from both sides— the employee and the employer. In 2017 we wanted to explore the cause of employer attitudes toward hearing loss. We found that in fact employers didn’t necessarily have bad attitudes toward hearing loss, but simply lacked the confidence regarding how to support [...] identify their needs. World Health Assembly resolution . Following the recommendation of the World Health Assembly resolution, it was announced last year that the World Report on Hearing will be published on World Hearing Day 2020. At this Stakeholders’ Meeting, the content and structure of the report were presented, including the need to make tackling hearing loss a public [...] professionals, and patient groups. The World Hearing Forum was also launched at this meeting with the vision is to eradicate preventable hearing loss. The World Health Forum seeks to make it possible for people with hearing loss to achieve their full potential through rehabilitation, education, and empowerment. The Ida Institute is pleased to announce the projects that have been awarded grants through our Research Committee . Hearing Loss, and Its Impact, on the Rise According to data from the WHO released [...] Community In May of 2017, the decision-making body of the WHO, the World Health Assembly (WHA), unanimously passed the Resolution on Prevention of Deafness and Hearing Loss . It was the first time a resolution on hearing loss had been adopted by the WHA in 20 years. The resolution invites the WHO to prepare its first ever world report on ear and hearing [...] hearing care, develop a toolkit for Member States, and support the development of safe listening standards.
