Jill Preminger

Jill Preminger, Ph.D., received her master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Wisconsin in 1982 and her Ph.D. in Audiology from the University of Minnesota in 1993. She has been on the faculty in the Program of Audiology at the University of Louisville since 1998. She teaches courses in the areas of: Acoustics, Speech Acoustics, Research Methods, Gerontology and Educational Audiology. Dr. Preminger coordinates the curriculum and the student research program for the Program in Audiology.

Preminger has an active clinical research program which is focused on adult audiologic rehabilitation. Her current research focuses on the impact of hearing loss on significant others. She is also working with a team of researchers around the world in order to measure the typical journey from hearing loss to hearing aid use. Preminger has over 60 peer-reviewed publications and presentations.

Preminger is a past president of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology, she is an Assistant Editor for the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology and she is associate editor for the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research.
