Winning Logo Selected in International Ear Care Day Competition

A winner has been chosen in the International Ear Care Day logo competition! “Listening to the World” was submitted by a team at the China Rehabilitation Research Center for Deaf Children. The logo was selected by a panel of judges for its use of clear, graphic language and color, which make it friendly and inviting.

The panel included Bo Linnemann, founding partner and design director of internationally renowned design firm Kontrapunkt; Dr. Maria Alarcos Cieza Moreno, the coordinator for Disability and Rehabilitation at the World Health Organization; and Ida Institute Managing Director Lise Lotte Bundesen. The judges met at the WHO headquarters in Geneva in mid-April to discuss the 20 logos shortlisted in the competition. The logos were evaluated anonymously, with the winning team revealed after the design had been chosen. Over 120 logo entries were submitted during the contest, which ran between December 2014 and January 2015.

International Ear Care Day was established in 2007 following the First International Conference on Prevention and Rehabilitation of Hearing Impairment in Beijing. The date was selected as the shape of the numbers – 3.3 – resembles two ears. Every year, International Ear Care Day addresses a specific theme and carries out an extensive range of activities with broad participation in order to raise awareness of hearing care and the prevention of hearing loss.

Congratulations to the China Rehabilitation Research Center for Deaf Children team!
