Transitions in Ida Research Committee

By Ellen Pucke

Ida thanks outgoing research committee members Dr. Melanie Ferguson and Dr. Sophia Kramer for their distinguished service to the committee since its establishment in 2015.

“Over the past three years Melanie and Sophia have played an important role in establishing the Ida research grant, selecting the most promising proposals, and ultimately broadening the evidence base for Ida tools and person-centered methods in hearing care,” says Lise Lotte Bundesen, Managing Director of the Ida Institute.

The Ida Institute Research Committee welcomes incoming committee member Dr. Kris English, professor at the University of Akron School of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Dr. English is an esteemed researcher and specializes in person-centered care and trust-building in audiology; quantitative and qualitative techniques to measure the efficacy of counseling strategies in audiology; teaching materials and strategies to enhance graduate training in audiology; and is the creator of AdvancingAudCounseling.com, a forum for exploring how the profession of audiology can advance in counseling.

The Ida Research Committee is currently reviewing proposals for the 2018 research grants.
