Ideas: Oticon Foundation Sponsors New Ida Institute-Driven Initiative

By Timothy Cooke

The Oticon Foundation and the Ida Institute will launch a global initiative to find innovative ideas to inspire action and raise public awareness for hearing loss on 28 March 2012 at the AAA Conference in Boston.

The Ideas initiative is a global online competition to solicit world-changing ideas to raise awareness of hearing loss and encourage persons with hearing loss to take action and live life to the fullest. The initiative aims to put hearing loss on the public agenda, change perceptions of hearing loss, and inspire persons worldwide to take action regarding their hearing loss.

““We are pleased that the Oticon Foundation has again provided the support for an Ida Institute-driven initiative that will enable us to foster a greater awareness and understanding of hearing loss. Our goal is to empower people to take action on hearing loss,” says Ida Institute Managing Director Lise Lotte Bundesen. “We know from our collaborative work in Ida seminars, workshops and other knowledge-sharing initiatives that our global network can bring an incredible amount of experience, knowledge and creativity to this exciting new project. Extending our collaborative efforts to the general public will give us even more opportunity to collect unique public awareness-building and educational ideas from around the world.”

The competition is open to everyone. Hearing care professionals, students, patients, families and the general public are all invited to participate in this joint effort to create ideas that can raise awareness for hearing loss.
