Ida Tools Presented to Department of Defense and VA Audiologists

By Amanda Farah Cox

Ida Fellow Paula Myers, PhD, recently gave a one-hour virtual course on the topic, “Incorporating Ida Tools and Other Resources into Your Daily Patient-Centered Audiology.” The presentation was given to a group of Department of Defense audiologists and Veterans Administration Audiologists, hosted by the Defense Hearing Center of Excellence as part of their Monthly Clinical Call series.

“Most of the participants were military DoD audiologists,” said Dr. Myers via email. “Those that sat in on the virtual call were all new to Ida and its resources [and] tools. The audience seemed pleased with the wealth of counseling resources available on the website that I discussed with them.”

In March of this year, Dr. Myers gave a similar presentation recommending the use of Ida Tools at the Joint Defense Veterans Audiology Conference. She specifically highlighted the Motivational, Communication Partner, and Living Well tools, as well as Ida’s professional development resources that help clinicians learn more about patient centered care and implementation.

Audiologists watching the presentation were then referred back to Ida to access our tools. Attendees are also eligible for CEU credits following the presentations.

Dr. Myers is the Chief of Audiology at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Thank you to her and the Defense of Hearing Center of Excellence for helping to spread the word!
