Ida Begins Work on Transitions Management Project

By Amanda Farah Cox

Growing up can be difficult enough. For children with hearing loss and their families, however, there are additional challenges to navigate as well as the usual adjustments children go through as often as one year to the next. With this in mind, the Ida Institute has begun work on a new Transitions Management project.

Focusing on the different social stages children and young adults move between, Transitions Management aims to produce an online framework that will explain the different transitional phases in a child's life and how to navigate them. The framework will also provide clinical support tools for hearing care professionals, children and young adults with hearing loss, and their families. The framework will help these different groups develop the knowledge and skills required for children and young adults to learn to manage transitions successfully.

We held a preliminary virtual meeting in early April with participants from our global community who all work in the field of pediatric audiology. We will continue to hold virtual meetings over the next few months, which will inform how we develop our framework. We look forward to sharing our progress with you!
