Invest in the beginning: Listening to our patients' stories

Unit two reviews the key communication tasks and skills required in the beginning of the appointment. Students try out establishing rapport quickly and gathering information through discussing a video, two games, role-playing, and providing constructive feedback to their peers’ role play. The Ida Telecare tools are presented as an effective way to help patients prepare their questions and highlight their priorities ahead of time so that appointments can be used to focus on what matters most.
