One seminar has ended, and a new one is soon to begin. In January, 24 hearing care professionals from around the world attended the first seminar in our three-part series titled: Patient-Centered Care: Fluff, Fact, or Fiction. This February, another multi-national group of hearing care professionals will travel to Denmark to partake in our second seminar and further explore the topic of patient-centered care.
During January’s seminar, we examined the concept of patient-centered care and considered what it means to practice in a patient-centered care way. An international group of hearing care professionals from 11 different countries, spanning 5 continents, will attend Ida’s upcoming seminar on 21 January titled “Patient-Centered Care: Fluff, Fact or Fiction.”
For each Ida seminar series, we aim to bring together a diverse group of participants from various backgrounds and locations. During the seminar, we ask each participant to reflect on their own practice and share their unique perspectives on the given topic. We consider our participants the experts. Their stories and experiences serve as the starting point for our collaborative process. A diverse group of participants helps the seminar bring fresh light on existing knowledge and explore uncharted territory.

A couple weeks ago, 25 hearing care professionals from around the world participated in the first installment of our “Managing Change: Realities and Roadblocks” seminar series.
During the seminar, we applied our collaborative approach to understand the realities facing audiologists, explore the barriers to change and create ways to move ahead. The goal of the series is to develop strategies and practical tools to overcome existing barriers to change and establish a patient-centered approach as the core of hearing care practice around the world.

The Ida Institute held its newest educational seminar series "Motivational Engagement" in May. More than 20 participants worldwide attended the seminar.
The seminar focused on how audiologists and other hearing healthcare professionals can motivate patients and/or help ensure existing patient motivation remains high enough to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Participants were very excited about the seminar which provided lectures, theater role play scenarios and collaborative group work.

The Ida Institute will convene its newest educational seminar series: Motivational Engagement this May. Distinguished faculty members Prof. Dave Fabry, Prof. John Greer Clark, Dr. Lorraine Gailey and Dr. Hanne Tønnesen have worked with Ida to create a unique seminar series focused on how audiologists and other hearing healthcare professionals can stimulate patient motivation and/or help ensure existing motivation remains high enough to achieve favorable outcomes.
This series will emphasize specific aspects of the clinician-patient interaction that may contribute to raising (or lowering) patient motivation.
