Geometry of patient motivation: Circles, lines and boxes

Abstract

The article provides information on the use of the Motivation Tools by audiologists to help their patients seek enduring health solutions. It mentions that audiologists often find it difficult to encourage their patients to hear but through self-motivation, it can be done sustainably.

The circle of change helps clinicians to properly visualize patient's preparedness and determine if change is needed. It adds that using two lines that represent a scale from 0 to 10 allows perception of the importance of change in one's life. Moreover, it states that the use of boxes provide visual tools that can help patients who gave themselves low rating on the need to make a change.
